I had a lot of fun porting Turbo Pascal for Windows 1.5 apps to Delphi 1. I wasn't all but pleased with VCL back then. Coming to think of it, I'm not entirely pleased with VCL today either :P
VCL was at its greatest in Delphi... 3, I think. Or did that already have the silly "ShowAsFisherPriceXPStyle" properties? In that case, the VCL must of course have peaked at D2.
Nice :) - Can it be transparent?
ReplyDeleteSure.... may be :)
ReplyDeleteOh wait... Delphi 1! :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Delphi 1... December 1995 :)

ReplyDeleteTurbo pascal, yes... I was happy when I start it on IBM after pascal on PDP-11 :)
ReplyDeleteMy first Pascal was Compas Pascal on a HP workstation. Compas was a predecessor of Turbo Pascal and generated p-code.
ReplyDeleteMy first Pascal was one on a SIEMENS mainfraim (with punch cards ...). That was in 1985.
ReplyDeleteI remember Turbo Pascal 5.5 on 8086 computer with 1Mb RAM.
ReplyDeleteBTW everyone can download Turbo Pascal 5.5 for free here: http://edn.embarcadero.com/article/20803
