I want to begin a new project in my spare time.
It's a multiuser project.
For this project I will use Delphi2010 and a database.
Mostly I use Microsoft SQL Server, but I think to use FireBird.
I also want to work with a Bussiness Layer.
On the internet I see some ORM to use but I don't know what to take.
Which ORM is worth to investigated and free of charge.

  1. I agree with Graeme. By releasing a framework or component without full source is an efficient way to scare developers from it. At least my team only use products will fill source for insurance if development stopped for some reason.

  2. We paid the gnostice pdftoolkit with full source. When I was debugging, I also found lowlevel units with only the dcu's. I mail the gnostice team and I get a patch that solved the problem but no .pas files.

  3. Graeme Geldenhuys I agree with all of you about source code. I wouldn't buy anything without source code because then your hands are tied. But I personally think this "binary-only" approach is dated from years ago, again, when it was an accepted way of doing things. These days, I don't believe there are 3rd party vendors providing products without full source code for Delphi, and if they are, they must be avoided indeed. But that's not the case of TMS Aurelius and other TMS components, which are always provided with full source code. In this case, as I say, it doesn't matter too much if it's free or not, the price should be considered just as starting point.
