    My first question would be "Why?".  The exact purpose of a DatasetProvider is to do exactly what you want.   Why not use it?

    My first question  would be, "Why do you need 10,000 records pulled into the client application in the first place?"

    What do these records represent and what are you doing with them?

    Colin Johnsun we have set logchanges to false but improvement in performance is negligible..
