Anybody here use the Gnostice eDocEngine Library? I tryed to install the newest version 4.0.0.112 in my Delphi XE2. Works fine except the Export interfaces for Rave and Fastreport. I could not compile and install it. is there somebody who has experience with this?

ReplyDeleteThey do brilliant stuff(for the most part...) but in some cases it's a pain to use. Never used their eDocEngine stuff - I did use the PDF toolkit quite a bit though.

I haven't used ver 4, but I remember older versions could sometimes be tricky to get the third party integration built.
ReplyDeleteThe install is a pain, I bought last year and the install process do not works at all, I have to do it manually and fix a few things in the code.
ReplyDeleteI use their version 3 and now 4. No matter how many times I've reported issues with their report compiler assistant in bringing in Fast Report 4 or DevExpress printing, their responses more or less say - we are are of this and they don't care.
ReplyDeleteYou also can't recompile their units from the IDE without adding units to the project scope. They are not interested in fixing. They say that they are only concerned with it working compiling with command line.
I gave them code to make edocengine 3 generate HTML and XHTML that would pass W3C. They never put in and it's not in 4 yet either.
As the earlier poster said. It's a love hate thing with them.
Lance Rasmussen I did manage to get them to fix my favourite bugs in PDFToolkit ;-) They even connected to my machine to see them in action :-p It's a tricky business to get them to, but doable :-)
