What are you guys doing when people whom you do not recognize and with whom you share no common connection add you to their circles?

I first try to determine if there is some link, such as being a member of the same communities (e.g. Delphi), but If I can't determine some type of reasonable association, I block them.  Is that over the top?  Should I just Ignore them?

  1. I don't know about Facebook, but I think it is the same as Follow on Twitter.  Personally, I do care who is following me.  Some of these followers have hundreds, if not thousands of people, in their circles.  It's clear that they are not actually interested in anything I have to say, but rather, are attempting to gather data for some other purpose.

  2. I've never had a person in Google+ add me to their circle that I couldn't find a connection to but on twitter I usually won't let someone follow me if I find their profile to be blatantly offensive to me. (Usually along the lines of "Hi I'm Bambi the bimbo. Click here to see my pics") And yes, they are usually following thousands of people they have nothing in common with. On facebook I've never friended someone I didn't know personally, even if they were friends of a friend. Btw, just added you to one of my circles. :D

  3. Basically, you can just leave them as is, without doing anything.  If you get posts from them in your notifications, you can mute them.

If someone circle you, it is most likely because they have enjoyed your posts, and want to subscribe to them.  Some people look at the circles of others to try to find interesting people.

I sometimes take a look at their profile to see what kind of posts they have, and if it is only spam-ish posts - THEN I block.

  4. I look over their profile/posts. If they have a profile and post things that are interesting and do not have a large imbalance of their own circles ratio I may add them - but I don't block.

  5. I just do nothing. After all, they can only see what you publish as public.

  7. As long as you post general interest posts or posts on a topic of your interest, and the post is not of a personal nature or NSFW - there is no reason to NOT post to public, IMO.
