OK, so as I am still on RAD Studio XE, I'd appreciate hearing from people why I ought to upgrade to XE4. All my work is, at present, on Windows.

  1. Download trial. If not better don't buy. I work on Xe2 and would not go back to xe but did not see much in xe3 or xe4 to justify the price of upgrading unless you want the ios stuff in xe4. I would like to believe that xe4 has new windows stuff but I doubt it.

  2. Why not establish tick-tock release approach similar to Intel and now Microsoft: new features, 6-12 months, a lot of bug fixes, 6-12 months, new features,..

  3. Ilya S I think the tick-tock approach is an excellent one, and very realistic. Any new non-trivial features will suffer some number of defects. In the old days, it was common practice for a point release to fix them.

In recent years, it seems that the features chase has all but frozen the repair of defects. In the XE+ series, the new features are mostly things I won't use, making the defect repair a major sales point from my vantage point.
