Why I don't like dotnet ?

I use a great program to track time usage from www.manictime.com. Unfortunately it is written in Dotnet. Recent versions of it require Dotnet 4 that in turn require 728 MB of my harddisk space! So I use an older version with an older and smaller dotnet.

I use it on a virtual machine and diskspace is limited. I could imagine a Delphi program would require a fraction of diskspace for the same functionality... :)

  1. I have a small delphi application that I wrote to keep track of my engineers time in projects. It doesn't track application switching like manic time. If you are interested I could send it to you. It saves runtimes and logged time in a small xml file. The app is around 1mb.

  2. Thanks, but I like manictime as it is. Great gui. Only thing that make me whining is the switch to dotnet 4...

  3. Isn't .NET 4 always present on a Windows 7 sp 1 install?

  6. Windows 7 SP1 has .Net 3.5 if I remember correctly, I had to manually install 4.0

  7. That's why I don't use any applications requiring .NET framework. I have Java installed just because AirVideo server needs it, and I love watching stuff on my iPad.
