  1. I used it heavily in one project and felt that it added nothing to my project that I couldn't have implemented in thirty lines of Trace logging code that I have been using for 10 years.

  2. A message from 2009 asks whether the project (Log4Delphi) is dead, and received no replies: "Is this project dead?  I actually really like it and have fixed some bugs.  I have tried to contact the developer to become a new committer on this project but he has not responded to any of my emails."

The project seems to have only one member.

    Hardly encouraging.

  3. Nothing beats SmartInspect imo. But having a logging interface to abstract that away like in DSharp and Spring4d helps if someone does not have it or uses another logging solution.

  4. Stefan Glienke Oh, absolutely-- logging is the perfect example of how abstraction can work.  If you aren't abstracting away your logging, you are definitely doing it wrong.

  5. Michael Justin Ahhh, didn't distinguish between Log4D and Log4Delphi.

Sadly, Log4D's example won't compile in XE4.  Needs older MSXML2_TLB.PAS.

  6. Nick Hodges Yeah, updated my own reply to account for the ambiguity.
