A team of Delphi developers should come together and create the next generation of Delphi... on Kickstarter!

This would enable the team to create what people would pay for.

„create the next generation of Delphi¯
ReplyDeleteIMO that's very unrealistic, what would be realistic is making freepascal more compatible with delphi so that you can move from one to the other without much hassle(plus that a lot of code is already in place).
It's open to interpretation ;op
ReplyDeletecreating a compiler and IDE from scratch takes a lot of time, if it were that easy, emb could have rewritten everything from scratch...
ReplyDeleteCheck out the Free Pascal / Lasarus IDE community here on Google.
ReplyDeleteJoin your efforts to FPC/Lazarus teams, you may be happily surprised. Most part of the job is achieved.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see real runtime packages and binary static libraries in FPC.
ReplyDeleteI dont understand runtime packages in FPC, you mean Lazarus ? Sure it would be nice
ReplyDeleteI do not want Delphi like C# or JAVA In future . but Virtual Machine may easy to cross-platform . who can tell me what happen in future about Delphi .
ReplyDeleteFPC is cross platform
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Anonymous Methods in FPC! Aside from generics, that's the greatest new Delphi language feature.
ReplyDeleteLazarus/fpc is there
ReplyDeleteLazarus IDE lacks runtime packages because FPC compiler lacks it. Feature is mostly used for IDE but implementation is a compiler side issue. This I think is the key weakness of the project structure; fpc inertia due to its goals and structure and complexity differing from Lazarus needs or goals.
ReplyDeleteNormally you dont need runtime packages. Lazarus itself compiles an package into iself in some seconds, and you have the full source.
