Sort of a short fix list =/
ReplyDeleteWell, xe5 hasn't been out long :-)
ReplyDeletefix list is not as extensive as I'd thought. It states "The release also includes fixes to issues identified by the product QA team that aren't listed here". Anyone got a clue how we can find out what items the QA team have done but not listed ?
ReplyDeletePaul Foster True, I'm curious how the faster releases of the XE versions will affect the updates.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI used the .iso to install XE5 (long story).
Looks like I need to use that again to get update 1 (but the date for that is 10 sep on the download page?)
as the web installer for update 1 methos needs the original web installer source files
I shall wait for the iso - the web installer didn't install the help first time around, that and I have a few machines (virtual too) to install on
ReplyDeleteAnyway it´s nice to have an update right now! Embo Team is working fast.
ReplyDeleteahh, finally we can change the App-Icon from within Delphi.
ReplyDeleteBut the Form.onActivate Event is still not fired :(
Well, I'm still installing it - been going a good hour or so now. I do hope the help will now work on the desktop and that my laptop doesn't take as long to install, although it probably will.....
ReplyDeletewow, it takes an eternity to update :) and we are talking about 280Mb, just image a GB update! lol
ReplyDeletepsh, try 4.7gb, thats the size of the iso :-P
ReplyDeleteouch!!! Well, will the ISO contains something more, as I read it the XE5 + Update 1?
ReplyDeleteMany of the really obvious iOS 7 bugs don't seem to have been fixed. e.g. Listview style is wrong, ComboBox is transparent and click positions are 20 pixels out vertically (height of the status bar). I can live with the first two, but the last one is a killer for users! How can they release an update without fundamental usability issues being fixed first?
ReplyDeletemy Update took 30 minutes, long + welcomed coffee-break :-)
ReplyDeleteInt'l characters still misaligned :(
ReplyDeleteIf I am not missing something I still cannot use Delphi XE5 Update 1 to develop applications which support external keyboards with german keyboardlayout. Can anybody owning an external keyboard with german keyboardlayout test if it is working with his keayboard? I just cannot imagine that this did not get fixed.
ReplyDeleteMarcel Krebes Thanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteRoland Kossow Besides your keyboard issue, have you problems with accented chars, as when using TabItem. Normal labels are correct here. Also I would like they get that fixed.
ReplyDeleteRoland Kossow What about demo with butterflies from your post, don't help in the development?
ReplyDeleteBut you were so happy posting it........
+Sergionn Rad Just because I am disappointed that an annoying major bug did not get fixed with the first update does not make me less "happy" about the blog post. The one has nothing to do with the other.
ReplyDeleteThere is also an update to the iOS syles ...

Roland Kossow you're persistent and forever happy fan of emb, be courageous, you still have a difficult way to go, till xe10, maybe xe12......
ReplyDeleteSergionn Rad I like to use tools that make development more efficient. Delphi is one of the best tools around for many situations. I am happy till XEternity if they keep improving it, as I was told by support they are working on the keyboard issue for the next release - so I am happy that I have assurance. There is no way I have to go and it is not difficult. Lighten up and get happy with whichever tool you want to use. I also use Visual Studio and Oxygene, code Javascript/JQuery and diverse other languages even ABAP - whatever is handy for the task of development, it is not that I am the "I use only Delphi"-Guy. Even though I have to admit that I show a bias for Delphi - the reason for this is my - most of the time - positve experience using this tool, not the fact that it is owned by EMB - so don't give me this "happy fan of emb"...
ReplyDeleteI take it back! The bugs I mentioned in my previous comment ARE fixed in XE5 update 1. The problem was that the update patch installer didn't work. It looked like it worked, but it seems that none of the updates were actually applied. I was a little suspicious as it finished within 5 minutes and everybody else was complaining how long it took. In the end, I completely unistalled XE5 and reinstalled from the iso. Things are looking much better now :)
