We are more or less set on investing in Continua CI and Finalbuilder for our shop.

We had a look at Jenkins and TeamCity as well, but it was CCI/FB which came out on top as best match for our wish list, but we have really only scratched the surface with the three.

Feedback appreciated.

  1. I am using Finalbuilder with SVN. 100% recommendation. Can't tell you anything about Continua CI Server as I yet have not tested it.

  2. Using FinalBuilder since V2 and FinalBuilder Server for years now. Going to move to Continua CI for the server portion (its a mental shift), but will definitely stay with FinalBuilder. In the past I used svn, but switched to Mercurial/Kiln and FogBugz some years ago. All parts work together perfectly.

  3. We are using Continua / FB together with git and Jira.
Except for some home made problems this setup is working quite well for us.
On the use of Continua I have to say though that it is occasionally quite noticeable that it is still v 1.0.
FinalBuilder logs are completely screwed up in the web interface if you have any parallel actions in your build script for example. There are also some small annoyances that are not really fatal but can mean extra work for you.
There are however very regular updates and the FinalBuilder staff is quite active on the support forums. So your questions or bug reports get answered rapidly. (Allowing for some delay due to their offices being in Australia).
I don't know your current workflow but you definitely want to make sure that Continua manages your repos and supplies your agents with the source code or intermediate files if you have multiple stages to your build. This will also allow you to assign an issue connector to your repositories so that the issues are automatically linked to your build.

  4. I absolutely love FinalBuilder. I honestly don't know how I managed before I started using it.

  5. I've used FinalBuilder  in a few setups (SVN, git, various Delphi versions) and like it a lot. Being in Oz I get semi-live support, but Vincent et al are pretty good with support. We ran into a bug that they couldn't localise so they shipped us a debug build which let them find and fix it. Total time ~3 days. cf certain other providers who just mark things as "fixed" or "won't fix" and leave the bug in place. Ahem.

  6. Can't imagine life without FinalBuilder.  It has saved me so much time and energy over the years I've had it.  Still to try Continua.

  9. I clearly haven't been paying enough attention to G+ lately, sorry I missed this post. In reponse to Christoph Hillefeld , yes, Continua CI is a V1 product, and it does have some kinks to work out, especially when it comes to FinalBuilder logs. We're working on that right now, it will be addressed in FinalBuilder 8. The main issue is the design of the logging in Continua is very different to FinalBuilder (different people, different ideas), unfortunately I discovered this issue too late in the Continua CI dev cycle to resolve before release. FWIW, we are working hard to improve the integration between Continua CI and FinalBuilder, to make the two easier to use together.
