After migrating from XE2 to XE5 I found out that the VCL form designer does no longer show the position while moving a component.
After migrating from XE2 to XE5 I found out that the VCL form designer does no longer show the position while moving a component.
Is there any special option in the settings that re-enables this feature? Or is this a feature from an additional package installed I'm not aware of?

Hi Fred... looks like a 3rd party feature. I don't see it in XE2 and I don't ever remember seeing it. Could it be implemented in CnPack or something similar?
ReplyDeleteThe only package not installed in XE5 (compared to XE2) is GExperts. I'll try to find GExperts for XE5 and maybe this already solves the problem.
ReplyDeleteGexperts and cnpack have something like this.
ReplyDeleteI have GEXperts in XE2 and I still don't get the hints. Perhaps it's an option.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have no addon installed. Just plain vanilla XE5 upd2.
ReplyDeleteFrançois Piette I think this is something different. I also see the info as hint, but not when moving the control
ReplyDeletePaul Thornton Indeed. I misunderstood the issue.
ReplyDeleteI have now all the same packages installed in XE5 that are also installed in XE2 - including an experimental build of GExperts for XE5. No change.
ReplyDeleteFor testing I deactivated GExperts in XE2 and restarted XE2 - the hints are still shown while moving the control.
It was also available in Delphi 2007. But I don't know if out of the box or via an expert.
ReplyDeleteAll very interesting. I have XE5 installed, with GExperts and CnPack, and I do not see the location displayed at all.
ReplyDeleteJust tested with XE2: I see the position. Then tested with XE3 and later: Gone!
ReplyDeleteI will ask if this can be brought back .
ReplyDeleteIt should be brought back!
ReplyDeleteMarco Cantù , Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMarco Cantù Is there any news if this feature will be available in one of the next updates? Even in XE7 this is still missing.
