What is Appmethod? See http://www.appmethod.com/ for information.

(Notice you cannot install RAD/Delphi/C++Builder and Appmethod on the same physical machine of virtual machine, as the two do not co-exist peacefully).

Why does it matter to Delphi developers? Not that you really want to use it, but it is the tool to send your friends looking for a mobile-centric, subscription-based solution.

In Appmethod you buy the platforms you want, and code in either C++ or Object Pascal. The C++ Android phone version is free!

  1. In short, Appmethod for Delphi developers is a Delphi without VCL?

  2. Kind of. It is more RAD Studio Enterprise without VCL, and you can pay per platforms and pay yearly subscription.

  3. Marco CantĆ¹ Is there a way to develop IDE experts for Appmethod since it doesn't offer VCL, but IDE still uses VCL a lot?

  4. From AppMethod website: "All platforms FREE for 30 days and Android phone is FREE FOREVER." So what exactly is free, only C++ flavor or Object Pascal flavor too.

  5. Never mind, found it hidden in the FAQ, only C++ is free.

  6. Yes, with a few limitations (like the requirement to give attribution, app store only deployment) but still a complete professional development tool that can be used to build Android apps for free and distribute them (even sell them) freely.

  7. Roman Yankovsky Yes, build it with RAD Studio and install it in Appmethod. Make sure to avoid dependencies on features not in Appmethod (but you can use the VCL in an Appmethod IDE Expert anyway).
