and that is why updates shouldn't be installed earlier than Friday or later than Monday, ideally, every 2-3 weeks so that you don't have to fight with OS + IDE + other applications (:
my Delphi work VM gets updated every few months the earliest, by the time I install an update, there's an update that fixes issues for a previous update that I haven't yet installed ^_^
It is very rare that a Windows update had any negative effects on my computer. Apart from the annoyance factor and the forced reboots of course. In fact, I can only remember two occasions.
