Am I missing something?

    Maybe you are missing Mercurial client...

    They are only available through Mercurial. You aren't missing anything.

    I was hoping that there would be a way to access them via subversion just like you can with Github.

    Paul Thornton SourceTree from Atlassian is free Git and Mercurial client for Windows and OSX. Easy to setup and use. http://www.sourcetreeapp.com/
