What would be cool is if freebies (Nick's book, Castalia, etc.) that are given throughout a release cycle applied to prior purchasers of that release version.  So for example if I purchased XE7 a week after release I'd get everything added to future promotions.  If I purchased a month before the next release I'd only get the promotional items for that promotion only.

  1. I'm pretty certain that's the case for most, isn't it? XE7 was released on Sep 2nd. The first publicised entry for Castalia for XE7 Google showed me was dated Sep 19th, http://blog.marcocantu.com/blog/2014_september_free_castalia_xe7.html Castalia itself wasn't released XE7-ready until Sep 11. The CodeCentral item for the XE7 free version is dated Sep 16th. http://cc.embarcadero.com/item/29995

So that's two weeks after the XE7 release, and I got it, but had a license for XE7 from the day it was released via maintenance.

  2. Which in particular haven't you got access to?

  3. There wasn't anything in particular I was looking for, just seems it would be an extra perk for people that upgrade right away, are on maint. or perform a recharge.

  5. I asked the sales person at EMB. They confirmed that RapidSQL was a goodie only for those paying for licenses, not SA.
They've been better on some of the things like Nick's and Marco's book, Castalia and a few other goodies, but not the primo ones.

One would think that there would be an incentive for SA but there hasn't been other than "your getting a good deal on its own merit".

  6. That's like asking for a free pair of socks because you bought two last month and today they have a buy three pay two promotion...

  7. No Stefan, not really.  I own (purchased) Castalia, and Nicks book, Fast Reports, Info Power components to name a few.   Some of the items because I got to try full working versions (not trials) before I purchased them.  That's the reason for the request ("perk").  If I purchased the first month, and they offer something I'd like to try the second month it would be nice to try and get that version to try out.  I'm not expecting anything for "free".  More than likely they're offering these products so people can use them in a real environment before making a full commitment.  In turn it helps sales of those 3rd party components (beyond the deal that was made in the first place).  Also, when XE8 comes out and I like what they offered for XE7, to get that product (3rd party component) to work with XE8 (there's no source code), I'd have to purchase.   Works for everybody in my view.
