Any way to register my XE7 key without installing Delphi? Kinda stupid to have to install XE7 just to register and then patch it, rather than just getting the latest ISO...

  1. The ISO is available both to registered and non-registered users, although it is called trial ISO. It is the same physical bits.

  2. Marco Cantù Kinda counterintuitive but at least there's a way. In general, as a user, I find the licensing stuff very lacking. We've all got mainteance here, why isn't the XE7 key just added to my account right away?

  3. Seems the trick is to register for the trial of XE7 and you get over email the link to the ISO image download. I thought it was also in a CC entry, but maybe not.

  4. Asbjørn Heid The issue is that for some customers maintenance email is different from registration email. Honestly, I think this is kind of nonsense, but there are some scenarios this is required by our customers (not by us!). Adds a lot of complexity...

  5. Marco Cantù But the license is personal, so that doesn't matter. Or are you saying there is no actual connection between the individual licenses and the maintenance?

  6. A user could register a license with an EDN account and have a maintenance contract tied with another email. In the past there was a way to register a key online with "consuming" a real registration, it was just a way to connect a key with the account, like you are suggesting. I understand it was removed because someone exploited it or something.

  7. Marco Cantù I guess that's what we have. Boss gets an email or two with the new keys afaik. He then distributes, and we have to hope he doesn't screw up giving the same key twice.

Anyway just feels quite tedious each time. Fortunately it's only twice per year...

  8. Marco Cantù Oh and thanks for the explanation, even though I dislike it ;)
