If I understood their docs correctly, they have their own rendering engine which may use local map files as data source, thus it does require neither connection to web map services, nor any dependencies on IE, Safari, WebView, browser engines as well.
Christophe E. thanks for the details. So for offline I take it you need to have been online and downloaded the required tile area, is there an API to request an specific tile area to be downloaded ? In terms of geocoding I take it offline you can still draw points and lines just geocoding of addresses to lat/long dont work ? Is there functionality to have georeferenced image as background ?
yes of course offline as long as you have the latitude and longitude you can display your items
In offline mode you can not get an address from latitude and longitude, or vice versa
I do not know if that fits your request but you can superimpose one image that covers a certain area, as for all the items you can adjust its transparency
Christopher .
Me encantaría probar tus componentes. Se ven grandiosos.
Trial for Delphi XE7,XE6,2010 and D7 (also works with the trial version XE7), only Windows 32bit VCL / FireMonkey
INSTALL =======
* Add the source directory in the library paths Delphi * Choose Component> Install Packages from the IDE menu * Add package ECNativeMap.bpl and FMX.ECNativeMap.bpl to the list
Demo sources are available, some do not work (demoNativevelib because it lacks a component that is only available in the full version TECMap)
Looks great. I especially like the look of the native (non-web-browser-using) map components.
ReplyDeleteYep, there is offline engine implementation, I like it as well. All in all, it's awesome!

ReplyDeleteby offline do you mean cache of the map ? Or do they have georeferenced images ?

ReplyDeleteI am the component author (thank you for making my advertising ;) )
ReplyDeleteTECNativeMap is independent of a webbrowser, tiles can be effectively locally
It can then be used in off-line mode
By cons for everything geocoding you must have an internet connection
the next update supports rotation maps, the beta should be available this week for my users
I just update the demo for android to demonstrate the effect

Feel free to send me all your questions
Christophe E. Have you considered lower pricing for individual developers?
ReplyDeleteВсеволод Громов
ReplyDeleteI have two rates, the lowest price includes component TECNativeMap available in VCL / FireMonkey (all platforms)
Be aware that you pay only once and all updates are free
Christophe E. Thanks
