In addition to what David Millington asks: a rewrite takes the same order of magnitude of effort as the original software has taken. Is that really worth it? Can you make a business case for it?
ReplyDeleteCurious they'd be making such a move in today's environment - unless they're specifically thinking of Xamarin they'll be putting themselves into a Windows-only cul-de-sac. Nick, Stefan and others here are doing a great job of promoting interface-based development with the resultant decoupling of UI from code. It might be worth investigating an incremental re-factoring of the current code-base.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever find a developer for your project? I have a similar albeit probably larger migration project which I would offer as a project or a full time position near philly. I have 2 othere FT delphi developers....
