Has anyone (other than myself) noticing the number of "Jira Admin" changes, especially "Assignee to 'Internal Dev'"?

So it looks like they are getting prepared for the next release...

  1. Lars Fosdal I will have to accept that as fact, as I have not yet accumulated any large-project time on a release later than XE. That will change in the near future, as we approach XE7, but remains fact, at present.

The third-party issues, however, are very real. TMS, obviously, has published fixes which introduced new defects, and that can be frustrating. In fairness, however, the more I consider the complexities of components -- especially grids -- and the diverse uses to which we put them, the happier I am that I do not have to attempt to devise test practices for publishing such components!

  2. Marco Cantù I should probably be careful, in future, to qualify such comments with the fact that I am speaking of desktop apps, even though that is evident in context.

I can easily understand the need for frequent updates on the mobile side. So much so that I could imagine it might make sense to publish updates which addressed only mobile.

That said, and lacking as yet Lars' experience on the post-XE4 side, I find the frequent updates for desktop a good deal less attractive. And while I certainly welcome the repair of defects, I remain concerned over the lack of attention to numerous IDE defects which have been with us for years. I'll not enumerate these, as they have been discussed repeatedly here.

None of this inspires me to leave the Delphi fold. It remains my language of choice, but I would like to be as excited as others seem to be -- and as I used to be -- about new releases.

  3. Bill Meyer Sure, with fewer releases they'd have more new features. Again, we understand the issue and are going to make changes in how we operate to better match our customers needs.
