Just a reminder: Be constructive, informative and helpful.
We all have different backgrounds and different levels of experience.  If someone ask questions that seem basic to you, gently point them to resources that will help them finding answers, or make suggestions for how to solve their issues.

We are all students of this tool of ours.

  1. Maybe I'm off topic, but I always think one should try stackoverflow.com first for a specific programming question. The G+ system is designed for a different purpose than SO.

  2. I second Edwin Yip. SO works best for those questions. Hanging around there all day. Not that much Delphi questions there though. I also view and answer PHP questions, which is a whole differnt story. Most Delphi people ask, wenn they are stuck and tried almost all available resources. The PHP guys often just ask, without even conducting a simple google search or looking at the PHP docs.

  3. IMHO, I don't think distinguish from which questions can be asked here is a good idea.  Otherwise, here will become just an almost experts discussion exchange place.   Less and less noobs, especially youngers, try to learn delphi,  you know.

What is the difference between asking questions here and SO ? IMHO, people here are more kind than SO ( Just my feeling, no argue please). Asking questions here just feel yourself at home.  No nervous and be afraid of someone who will close your question or down vote your question.

I know, bad question or endless queston let helpers easily feel impatient.  However, I'd rather not to answer that question, and let other people whom still want to help to help.

Finally, this group, if the policy is just for some certain questions or disscussion, I will respect of it.  I just said what I wanna say.

  4. SO is great for very direct questions on specific topics. On the other hand questions asking for opinion and recommendations are frowned upon there. So, those type of discussions are great here.

  5. Many post their questions on SO, and then link them here. Works well, IMO.
