JetBrains recently published the research they did before they produced a C/C++ IDE to understand what C++ users looked like across platforms. On the Windows end, histogram of Windows IDEs added up to 100% despite not including C++Builder. At best, that's got to mean that C++Builder represented < 0.5% in their survey. :-( And this was from before VS Community Edition went free.
Another interesting tidbit was, at least for those working on cross-platform code, the most-used OS to develop in was Linux, not Windows.
It's a really interesting look, and I'll post the link below. I wish we had something like this for Delphi, or something that asked about Delphi. My discussion with David I. about this was not very illuminating (he couldn't understand why polling the first 500 people to buy your product doesn't give you a representative sample).
C++ alone :(
ReplyDeleteHorácio Filho Honestly, who on earth would ever use C++ for decent work? It is such a niche product ;)
ReplyDeleteIf you vote for "None" please explain why. It's interesting to know.
ReplyDeleteUwe Raabe C++Builder certainly is.
