  2. Delphi is an awesome product. It allows people like me (a microISV) an opportunity to create software products that can be sold to the general public. So, where do all the other Delphi microISV's (people like me) learn how to market, sell and grow their software businesses?

If I had to guess, the typical microISV adopts the "If you build it they will come strategy." When in fact microISV's should employ the opposite tactic of "If they come then build it."

I've been doing the "If you build it..." thing for 25 years. Only recently did I discovered that my approach was flawed. I believe helping other Delphi microISV developers become more successful at what they do is just as important as learning how to be a great Delphi technician.

Nick Hodges back when you worked at Borland/Codegear/EMBT did you ever get to see stats on how many Delphi shops were microISV shops?

  3. Gunny -- I actually attended the ASP Conference one year -- it was a good time, and there were a lot of Delphi developers there.

I don't recall the specific details, but we concentrated our efforts on the MicroISV market for sure.  There are a lot of tools out there built with Delphi.
