  4. If Nick Hodges is not saying that this is simply FUD, then I started to get worried! :-O

  5. Or you know, he figured that it's tedious that they keep changing domains due to being bought, so decided to use something which he had more control over...

  6. Even though I do not really understand why some think this is not a good sign ...

I am still considering a community IDE/Compiler buyout ... or at least I am collecting people that would have a general interest in such an endeavour ... no matter how vague it might be at the moment ...

  7. quoting from the "projects" page: "While the dust settles around Idera's acquisition of Embarcadero, I'm going to focus on some things I do outside of RAD Studio and Delphi.".

  8. One of the nicer features of this group has been that FUD is much less prevalent than on the newsgroups. A shame to change that.

  9. So who is spreading FUD now...

    - offshoring development and replacing experienced devs with junior ones - FUD
    - complaining about quality drop after previous move - FUD
    - constant license changes, price increases, no bug fixes without subscription - FUD
    - Reuters article about imminent Idera purchase - unconfirmed rumor - FUD

Compiler guy moves his blog on domain The Real Oracle At Delphi - world is falling apart ;-)

  10. Nick Hodges This sounds like a wonderful sign. The previous owner of Delphi had no real connection to its customers, including hosting a forum it didn't post in or even really moderate. If they're starting to take an interest at the top in communicating with the customers that can only be a good thing. I remember when they switched to a 6 month release cycle the only place this info appeared was tucked into a personal post on David I's blog. Active interest in more formal communication would be a good thing.
