How long before EMBT support responds to registration limits extensions these days?

Reinstalled on Friday, thinking I could rely on the 14 days grace period to get me through, only to get stuck on the command-line compiler being disabled during the grace period, which in turn prevents JCL from installing...

  1. They respond quite promptly - within few hours or less but during work hours for particular region. Friday is really bad day for installing Delphi.

Actually, my last experience was before Idera takeover, so things might have changed for better or for worse.

  2. If I had a penny for every day spent waiting on an activation bump...

Actually, it's only bad when I reinstall on a Friday (as Dalija Prasnikar mentioned). Bad day to do an installation, not that we often get a choice over "when".

I imagine they'll have your activation limit bumped sometime in the next hour or two, though (keeping in mind the time zone difference)

  3. Well, I often start Windows re-installs on Friday, because it's mostly Windows reboots and waiting for installers, so just clicking "ok" once in a while during the week-end, and by Monday this is usually mostly over... unless there is an EMBT product in the picture. :/
I was not anticipating EMBT to be swift, but I had not thought they would disable the command line compiler during grace period...

  4. Personally, I don't understand why the license enforcement system doesn't allow you to "deactivate" a prior installation (to reduce the count) so that you can activate your fresh installation.

This would make more sense, reduce Support overhead for them, and of course eliminate the waiting time for the likes of us (customers).

It would also eliminate the feeling that those of us with legitimate licenses are being penalized for the sake of what is ultimately a failed attempt to prevent piracy.

Pirate copies of EMBT products have an activation crack, so users of pirate copies don't have to wait 3 days for an activation bump. They have it so easy compared to the rest of us!

  5. I've only done it twice so far, first took about 10-15 minutes, the other took about a day.

edit: first was a couple of years ago, last attempt was just a few weeks ago.

  6. Daniel Jackson Indeed. A lot of games with limited activation counts allows for this.

  7. Just in case I opened a new ticket after updating my account info email address (apparently my "contact status" had been marked as "email undeliverable", even though that particular email has been active and valid for years, and has been receiving Borland / EMBT ads for aeons)

  8. Ok finally got through, not sure if that was the contact status thing or just the usual delay.

  9. Last registration limit bump I did last week had turnaround < 4 hours. On the whole it's 1-4 business days.
