I've used their products in the past, and have been thinking of them for a new project, but the PDF doc files are not very well done, and the CHM files appear useless, at present.
I have reported this to Devart, but wondered whether anyone else has seen the issue.

  1. Stefan Glienke Having protection against the Trojans is reasonable. Hiding the cure in Properties, and offering no explanation in the CHM reader is poor design. And further, why not flag the issue in Explorer in some way?

My issue is not with the blocking, but with the obscurity of the fix and the misbehavior in the viewer.

  2. We have used there Unidac components for a long time and have found them to be solid performers. Been a while since looking at the Help files though so can't remember that aspect. There forums have been good in the past when needed though.

  3. The CHM help file format is very old and hasn't been updated in many years by Microsoft, yet it's still the standard help file format in the latest versions of Windows. Caring about security is always nice but it looks like this security restriction has been very quickly implemented without too much thoughts. Perhaps the team mates responsible for this fix were too afraid to update very old code from the CHM compiler and viewer applications !?
HelpNDoc's support often get asked about this problem but unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done at generation time. If you really need to display those files without unblocking them first, there are some registry settings that can be changed but this should only be done carefully, in a tightly controlled environments. Those registry settings as well as additional information about this "feature" can be found in the following article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/896358
And if that is not enough, a similar problem could occur if the CHM help file is placed in a path containing a "#" (sharp) character :(
