I want install C++Builder Starter in a machine that previously was Delphi DX Seattle installed.

I want install C++Builder Starter in a machine that previously was Delphi DX Seattle installed.
I've uninstalled Delphi but when I'm going to install C++Builder I get the next screen:

Any one know how to avoid this and install C++Builder alone?

Thank you in advance!!!!

  1. Have you downloaded the installer from the link in license text file?

I had no problem, but it was also on a clean Windows.

  2. I guess it is because of your remaining licences. If I recall they are located on the %programdata% folder. You should delete embarcadero folder (btw you will lose all your licensed product and you will have to register Delphi again on next install)

I do it. I've deleted the Embarcadero folder in ProgramFiles. I'm going to delete it from Program Data, but after, I'm going to use a clean machine. Sound like it is the better solution.

    Thank you.

  4. If the previous installation was Seattle, then any edition of Berlin should install independently. (Just to check, you've never had any edition of Berlin installed on this computer?) I'm not sure what the issue is here, and it's very odd that a C++Builder Starter installer is showing Delphi Pro items on its install screen.

If this issue continues, could you email me at david dot millington at embarcadero.com please? I will follow it up internally and find a solution for you.

Actually the situation persist, but, I think it's not a great problem. Some times we need to be practical.

The machine with the problem never had a Berlin version installed. Actually was a copy of my current develop machine. I was uninstalled Delphi and I pretend to install C++Builder.

To solve this problem I've had to get a new machine clean. It's a nuisance, because I should to install all the pendent updates, the VMTools again, and configure the machine as usually I use. But... the result is a machine using only the things I need to the new investigation project.

I'm sorry David. I have no time to create an incident and I'm sure that your team is more productive in other important things. (This is really a banality).

    Thanks.

PD: My intention is to construct a shell package, to be used with delphi, over the SDK of Sketchup. Anyone want add efforts!

This "Free" version of C++Builder comes to me at the better moment!!!

    Thanks Embarcadero's People!

  6. Now I have the same problem, just the other way around. Taking advantage of the Delphi offer https://plus.google.com/115782878581272923715/posts/EwaQu4WkFus linked to here, I am only offered the C++ builder starter (which is already installed) when installing. Is it not possible to install bot C++Builder and Delphi starter on same machine?

  7. Palle Meinert The one version (eg Berlin) will be regarded as the same install, so you can have C++Builder - picked up from your existing license - or Delphi. You need a RAD Studio license to use both together.

    I recommend using a VM - I develop in a VM anyway.

  8. David Millington Ok, thanks. In the process of Downloading the iso, but guess it makes no difference. Yes I am also using VM, but currently from a bootcamp partition. Might consider converting it to a pure VM, since Apple does not support my machine running any Windows higher than 7 in bootcamp, so driver support is lacking.

Off topic (may be no): Can you say us the model of your apple. And the build year.

I have a problem with an update of Windows in bootcamp, and I'm not thinking in a drivers problem until now.

  10. Juan C. Cilleruelo It is an 2009 iMac. I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 before the free offer expired. The most annoying problem running native is lack of brightness control. Other parts I have working from drivers downloaded to bootcamp on my Macbook Air, which Apple officially supports Win 10 for. But I prefer OSX and have ssd + ram enough installed that, running in VM is not bad. On my air 8GB of ram results in lot of paging with VM, so running native in bootcamp is preferred for Windows work.

  11. Palle Meinert Juan C. Cilleruelo I use Win10 (and Win7) in Parallels, and I used to use Fusion too. I find it much nicer than boot camp. I recommend using a full VM (ie not accessible via boot camp unless booting natively is really important to you, for, eg, graphics support > DX10) - you can make snapshots, duplicates, and backups very easily.

  12. Really I never used bootcamp. Since the last ten years or more I usually work with VM. In some project the VM has been hosted on Windows, and other times, the more of them, in Mac OSX.

Some times I think that VMWare should have a detail with people like me. In the projects in which I've participated, work with a Windows VM inside the host Windows systems, has become like a mantra for next projects of the team members. ;)

But, I know an enterprise in which their Apple's always worked with bootcamp. Just in the limit of the grace period for update Windows 8 to Windows 10, they has been updated all his computers. It was catastrophic!

But this is not related to Embarcadero nor Dephi. Is because of this what I said that may be off topic.

  13. I got it working with the iso-file from registered user download at edn.embarcadero.com. Don't know if it mattered, that I had tried adding the license manually in licensemanager first. I wasn't asked any license question during installation and seemed to install everything. But when starting rad-studio afterwards, the same dialog shown in my previous installation attempt appeared, but this time also with delphi starter as option next to C++Builder already installed. It then went on to check for trial license and ask for a valid license-key, after that failed. I gave my license-key and it worked, but it made me wonder how much my manually license made a difference. It did know it was delphi-starter though..

David Millington I also use VM. I am using VMWare Fusion (got angry at Parallels upgrade prices). And Yes snapshot would be handy, when playing with installations like this B-)
