IDERA is really doing some job in Embarcadero!

- GetIt is not working for some weeks:
"The Embarcadero GetIt Server could not be reached...."

- Registered downloads is also not working:
"Unable to complete network request to host "etnaedndb02.embarcadero.com:3046". Failed to establish a connection. Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted."

What should be the next "improvement"?

  1. I cannot repeat your GetIt symptom - in XE8, 10 and 10.1 the GetIt Package Manager in the IDE does show a list of a list of components.

I can repeat that any access to cc./codecentral./downloads.embarcadero.com ends up with error message you have posted. I have not checked if the "alt" downloads work, because from to of my head I do not know the rest of the URL.

  2. Dont expect too much from Idera. CEO Randy Jacops ranks low in confidence.

According to what certain people here in Houston have said, Delphi Berlin sales have been very poor and upgrades purchases have been even worse. After all, over the past 5 years, many component makers have begun to offer .net component versions to make up for poor sales.

I believe that Remobjects will be front and center very soon.

  3. BTW How can they expect to sell anything if something like this happens ... http://community.embarcadero.com/answers/renewal-of-maintenance-contract

Embarcadero and Idera are at the moment obviously lost in transition. :-(

  5. Michael Thuma Yes - the layout is broken since months. Makes a horrible impression.

  6. Michael Thuma You mean something new for cc or for edn? For edn there is already http://community.embarcadero.com/ - but there is no codecentral area.

  7. Michael Thuma a click on registered downloads leads me to http://cc.embarcadero.com/myreg/ which results in the very same error Cesar Romero mentioned. This is probably because it is weekend and on monday they will have it "fixed" by restarting the database server.

  8. Michael Thuma You might want to take a look at RemObjects Oxygene (and Hydra) -- having nothing to do with databases in particular. Oxygene is moving along fairly well and has attracted a large following. If you like Delphi you will certainly like Oxygene.

EMB leadership under Wayne Williams didnt have any sort of original strategy muchless one inferring they were capable of ruling anything. The developers or formally the
evangelists were primarily at the wheel and they didnt operate with the attitude your metaphor may suggest. However, leadership is another matter and often they'll say anything to make a buck.

One final thing to note is that Berlin is the final work of the now departed EMB team. Idera had little to do with the version except to push it (early) out the door.

  9. What is happening about update 1 for Berlin. EMB very quiet.

  10. cc.embarcadero.com is up again.
Update 1 should be there this or next month - as I was told by an Embarcadero sales rep.

  11. Roland Kossow According to the roadmap there is still 2 updates due for Berlin and Godzilla before the end of the year. Time is running out. My subscription is also running out towards the end of the year and at this point I am hard pressed to find enough good reasons to renew.

  12. Godfrey Fletcher Yes Update 2 is supposed to follow in short time. But we all know they might have a hold up because of being bought and transisiton to new developers. My good reason to renew is that reentry would be very expensive ... :-(
Besides of that it is trust and Delphi worshiping/subvention :-)
