Let me put it another way. Chrome installed Java, and once it's installed, it keeps trying to update itself. There's an option to disable that, but it seems to notify you anyway. When it updates, it requires you to restart your browsers. I do visit sites from time to time that have java applets installed, but it's not very often.
More specifically, the JAVA UPDATE NOTICE is coming from JRE that's already installed. If you don't want to see them, then disable the notices and/or the task that runs in the background checking for updates.

ReplyDeleteChrome does not install Java. Foolish to have it sitting there waiting to screw your system with a malicious attacker. Why not remove it?
ReplyDeleteDisabling automatic update is just asking for trouble. Running ancient JRE is simply asking for malware to do its thing.
