By any chance can we get rid of pascal.today from the feed? It's just spamming! Or maybe there is an option to add filters so we will be able to filter out useless feeds?

  1. Roman Yankovsky you can click on "quiet this blog" just below any of its posts

  2. Talking about beginend: Is anybody else experiencing the problem with the rss feed, that it does not keep them in the chronological order and delivers ancient posts as new?

  3. Roman Yankovsky, in what way it's spamming? It seems to me that all articles are very relevant and it does a pretty decent job of keeping stuff together.

  4. It feels like that they put too much noninformative topics on the feeds site.. It is great to have passion on something, just with some moderation.

  5. I agree with Roman Yankovsky - this blog is spam. Very high frequency, no contribution in the articles just copy and paste information.

  6. I have to disagree. Even though there's no original content, it could be really good to organize and have in one place all the most important libraries for every pascal flavour. I think it's a worth endeavour, which maybe requires a bit of direction if you will. The resource could be immensely useful in a number of ways, so why not engage with the chap instead and help him make it better? The Pascal community sorely needs a place where all things Pascal can be reached like a sort of Pascal portal. If he lacks experience (which is absolutely fine), why not help him make it better by suggesting topics or a re-org of the portal itself (the content is still manageable so that can be achieved painlessly by a single person).

  7. Andrea Raimondi The problem is not what they did but how they did. It is fine and might be also helpful for some people to write those introductory content. However, it is better to organized them with an open wiki or even work based on current one. Putting such entries as separated posts with high frequency in beginend.net is really a noise (even abuse) for me.

  8. It's clearly somebody trying to attract views. No attempt to add real content. For example look at the people section.

  9. I can't get myself to agree, sorry :) Does anybody know the guy? My thinking is, everybody seems to have an opinion about what the purpose is, which clearly shows that it's muddled at best. I have seen some post where the guy said he'd registered the domain and that he was trying to make a Pascal portal. I think the idea has merit, regardless of the used technologies. I also think we may be "spoiled", in that we are old timers and have never really had to deal with newbies for a long time.
Anyway, it's not my fight, I just think that removing it without a solid reason isn't right. I would totally support it if he posted about Cialis :) but the posts there do explain stuff that you rarely find around - and it's all in one place.

  10. Baoquan Zuo login is trivial, you only need an email address (no login, no password), if a blog gets more "quiet" requests than views, it will become eligible to more drastic action :)

I will see (next week, after vacation ends) about some ways to have a single summary entry per days for blogs with multiple entries per day, should keep things more quiet by default.

  11. Eric Grange login is useless if you are reading beginend's RSS :)

  12. Andrea Raimondi I'm not against that website or its author, but it's definetely not in beginend's format.

  13. Don't we already have about.com/delphi? That looks like a much better place to store all things Pascal. I see no need to replicate that source.
Might I suggest limiting the blog items listed on begin-end to one per day per blog? (perhaps condensing multiple items in a single item).

  14. Roman Yankovsky, that's a far better argument :) I don't really use beginend, so I am not sure how far off it is.
Johan Bontes, About.com/Delphi is perfect for technical, hands on solutions. However, some things don't fit nicely in a wrapped up piece of code and the About.com/Delphi section follows just that format.

  15. Is about.com/delphi still active? I was under the impression it no longer had a maintainer.
    There is also delphi.wikia.com btw.

  16. Thomas Mueller Indeed, Žarko Gajić moved on to new endeavors in January 2013.

  17. Thomas Mueller http://www.about.com/delphi/ starts with a page of ads, http://delphi.about.com still shows Delphi info but has not been maintained as of 2012 according to http://zarko-gajic.iz.hr/about/

  18. It's your blog they are talking about, no? :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sure if they want to remove it from just contact the owner of begin end.net

  20. I was just wondering if you don't want to put a bit more information into your articles rather than just 2 liners or copied text from another page. Like the libraries you just posted about - go more into detail. Otherwise it's just information that we already got elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sure.. I just want to make skeleton first

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just started for two weeks.. and sorry that annoying you with my blog. But I did not add it to the begin end.net

    ReplyDelete
  23. I am not annoyed, I know how to filter content on the internet ;) People nowadays get upset way to quickly on people with good intentions :(

    ReplyDelete
  24. I put the base content, and later I plan the fill content with more details. But that's my interests.. so just quiet the blog or hide it somehow and be happy!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I was not talking about you :)
But to make it clear - I also fill the information to the website so that it simple for beginners to start with most popular libraries and books.. it not just a blog about me or my ideas..

    ReplyDelete
  26. Stefan Glienke Yes. I am going to add that info to a libraries and other posts. But first I wanted to make thre map of the site. So that the leafs are created and then I can write more detailed content. So the posts there are kind of drafts.
As example I will add samples of library use (spring, sharp etc..). But I can't do that all in few weeks - I just started the site. I am trying to make it better.. but such comments from other people destroys my motivation.. as I am full time job and have no much time for that at all - its just a hobby like. Sorry to make you read so many letter :D

    ReplyDelete
  27. Stefan Glienke Again - I'm not against that website. But it's not in beginend.net format. At least for now :) Almost a half of my RSS reader is filled with that useless two-liners. It's not normal.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Roman Yankovsky absolutely agree with you. I do not know who added my site there. And sorry for filling up your feed with posts.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Zigmund Bulinsh ok, no problem. Keep up your good work!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Roman Yankovsky I will try.. but I got so much negative in this post.. will need some time to recover..

    ReplyDelete
  31. David Heffernan If I wanted to attract attention I will use adds or some other earning system. And yes I try to attract people - young Delphi developers. That resource for sure is not for guys like you or even for beginners with experience just below 20 years...

  32. I really like BeginEnd. My only problem is that the RSS feed sometimes translates entries (which is awful). I would love if there were different feeds for localized blogs. Other than that, excellent work.
