question: if coming from Seattle, would I need to install Berlin first and then this update to that?
ReplyDeleteNo, from Seattle you can install Update 1 directly. And keep Seattle on the same machine, if you want.
ReplyDeletethat's good to know. I guess though 3rd party components will need updating. I have been happy with Seattle , hence have not updated, but will need to re new iOS and OSX versions coming out
ReplyDeleteComponents need to be updated from Seattle, yes, but not from Berlin RTM.
ReplyDeleteMarco Cantù When is EMB going come out with an installer that can
ReplyDeleteupdate Delphi without a complete reinstall?
Marco Cantù it might be a stupid question but what is RTM. I have Berlin 10.1 but I don't know what is RTM. Thanks
ReplyDeleteMarco Constant RTM = Ready To Market/Manufacture is a term describing the originally deployed version. So probably what you have installed anyway.
ReplyDeleteDoes it support iOS 10 ?
ReplyDeleteEmrah Kucukali if you had just clicked the first link you would see that it does.
ReplyDeleteif i uninstall Delphi, later, i'll have to install all components, and all Android and iOS related things again to make it works as before? am i right?
ReplyDeleteBest workaround for keeping your configuration seems to use the Migration Tool to export your configuration and re-import it after installation of the Update 1. Trying it on a machine. and plan to blog about it -- or have support post the steps.
ReplyDeletethnx Marco, so see you later tonite with blog? ;)
ReplyDeleteSo we have downloaded the ISO and installed it as UPDATE. Everything ok so far but the problems with slow opening forms with a lot of components on it still exists. Update has keept all settings, vcl and options we have setup.
ReplyDeleteI am very disappointed of this update. Bugs which have been reported for months and years are not fixed. Even the broken manifest file is still included in bds.exe (RSP-14818).
ReplyDeleteAnybody else experiencing error messages when doing the uninstall of 10.1 BErlin via the setup.exe? Something with "...Plugin cannot be found..."?
ReplyDeleteAchim Kalwa Why should they fix bugs known for years in the current situation? It will be a lot of work to integrate the new development organisation - so I bet they won't have time to tackle bugs they did not tackle in the last years right now.
ReplyDeleteRoland Kossow Did you happen to have a look to the bugs fixed in Update 1? There are newer issues and some long standing ones...
ReplyDeleteAchim Kalwa The issue is not a broken manifest file, that would be easy to fix. The issue is not all components used by the IDE scale and behave properly... and this is something we are addressing, but it is going to take time.
So then Achim Kalwa - it is not because of the switch in development mode but other reasons according to Marco Cantù
ReplyDeleteI am not disappointed - neither with the Update nor with EMB getting the transition to the new development organisation done so fast after changing so much within the organisation. I did not check the bug list yet - but will do so as soon as possible.
Marco Cantù Thanks for clarifying. It would be helpful if such kind of information was added to the bug report.
ReplyDeleteYusuf Zorlu: the problem with slow loading forms was not reproducible and is maybe only mentioned as fixed because it was closed because it could not be reproduced - quality.embarcadero.com - Log in - Embarcadero Technologies - so you might want to post it again.
ReplyDeleteUsers with the free 10.1 Berlin Starter Edition are not eligible to update, right? They have to going to live with the fixed bugs.
ReplyDeleteUpdate, or actually new blog post: Blog post "Using Migration Tool to Move Your Settings to Update 1" at blog.marcocantu.com - Using Migration Tool to Move Your Settings to Update 1
ReplyDeleteFabian S. Biehn Given the company is making Starter free, I think you should be able to download the updated version, but not sure about the process
ReplyDeleteMarco Cantù does not seem to work.
ReplyDeleteWhen I try to download from http://cc.embarcadero.com/reg/delphi I get a "Not Authorized" Error. The Error Page says I have to registered one of these products:
- Delphi 10.1 Berlin Starter Named User
- Delphi 10.1 Berlin Starter Named User DevRel Edition 1 year
(Skipped all other non Starter Editions)
But the confirmation e-mail says I have this:
- Delphi 10.1 Berlin Starter Named User Promo Edition
Btw http://cc.embarcadero.com/myreg does not list any of Delphi 10.1 Berlin, only my registered XE and XE6
Fabian S. Biehn The Promo Edition is not correctly configured in CodeCentral, hence the bug. Write support to have an alternative download link...
ReplyDeleteMarco Cantù I dont need a alternative link immediately, if it is a known issue and somebody is working on it, it is alright. If you need my notification to the support to start the bug fixing process, I will write an e-mail ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo the request to fix the issue has been around for several weeks now -- we knew it was coming. But if you contact support, you can have a solution to bypass the problem.
