  1. I understand exactly nil, looks to me more like the beginning of a movie trailer, maybe I wasn't the target? (;

  2. It's... oh, where to start.

    Technical quality is good enough.

    Design, storyboard, effects looks like something from a complementary school.
    AD (the message, spirit) actually makes me sad. For years on end i have asked myself why everything "Pascal" must look so crappy (visually). AND why ALL samples / demos / sessions / webinars / et. al. always just touches the beginning of something. Then, "ah cool", and you start to use the thing they (emba reps and other pascalish people too) showed off (touched) and you realize it's crap*.

    Sorry, but this gives the same feeling of something missing quality-wise.

    * No one mentioned, not one forgotten and no one needs to take that personally. Hmm... the execs, maybe.

  3. It seems that product development efforts has been replaced with cheese marketing. Delphi I see bright future behind you...

  6. Eye-rolling aside, I don't think it gives you any idea what they're selling or why you'd want it. I know they're doing some type of contest now having people submit videos; is this one of them? There's one with cows in it. :-)

    On Reddit I gave my idea for what would be a good Embarcadero commercial. You'd start with a shot of the same program running on an iPhone, Android tablet, Windows and OS X desktops (something competitor Digia did several years ago with Qt). Then you'd show a highlighted diff output, indicating how much of the code was identical between the different programs/platforms. If they're pushing the RAD aspect of their cross-platform framework, I don't know of a simpler, quicker way to illustrate it.

    Here, this is the kind of shot Embarcadero needs to have:

  7. IMO, commercials is probably not what drives the sale of this product.

    If we want the younger generation to use it, I don't think traditional ads will work. They are battle hardened against ads - because ads are everywhere, and often where we try to avoid them.

    I generally find that ads with a sense of humor appeals to me, over the dull, dreary, enterprise angle - and if you can make something that may even go viral - you will get brand and product recognition.

    That said - Product visibility is important, and use cases, show pieces, user stories, i.e. something that shows of the productivity gains and product capabilities, is what needs to be shown.

    With product capabilities, I mean more than just ticking off feature lists. Specifications are dull, but performance is exciting. In that context, the QT video is spot on - although fairly simplistic.
