  1. Beacons are interesting, but do they exist in industrial quality?
To be able to use them, we would need beacons that can handle a continuous temperature of around +4°C, as well as beacons that can handle down to -30°C or better.

Jim McKeeth - What is the approximate locating precision of BeaconFence? What is the maximum area of coverage? Is positioning limited to X,Y coordinates, or can it be used on a Z axis too?

  2. The environmental issues could be handled with higher grade industrial beacons. The precision can be tweaked by using more beacons with the power set lower. When you reduce the transmit range of the beacon it increases the precision. Then you would need to use more beacons to cover the area.

There really isn't a maximum range for beacon fence since it creates a mesh of multiple beacons. By adding more beacons you increase the range.

Beacons transmit in all directions, but beaconfence only deals with 2D. You could use the regular beacon component to get your distance from the beacons and calculate the Z axis manually.
