In recent versions, we see many new components for Win10 apps. What strikes me though is that one can use them in VCL apps.

Shouldn't those Win10-specific be avail for FMX as well?

And the same goes for Metropolis apps.

I feel like EMBD forces me to go to VCL if I want a modern Win app. But I still want to do cross-platform development for my own apps.

  1. David Heffernan This is what we are moaning about. We understand that VLC and FMX are different frameworks. We spend time and effort to develop FMX apps because we can reuse forms and GUI elements but it appears that EMBA builds on VLC components more which makes us maintain two versions (FMX and VLC) as Hans Lavdal Jakobsen says.

  3. David Heffernan Have a look at the TMS iCL components. They are FMX based, but the visual part is pure iOS native.
