Delphi on the pi? What os do you imagine is running on the pi? How much will delphi cost to developers for this system?
ReplyDeleteLOL, cost... RPI3 €39,- & Delphi Enterprise €5.868,- :)
ReplyDeleteI can buy 150 pi boards for the price of the Delphi!
ReplyDeleteJim, do you know how much Delphi for Linux costs?
David Heffernan You can run Android on the Pi 3
ReplyDeleteAndroid on the Pi with Delphi Pro + Mobile. Of course I am assuming everyone here has Delphi, but perhaps not. If you have Delphi and want to learn to use it for the Pi, then sign up. If not, then that is fine.
ReplyDeleteWill you be using Tokyo 10.2 for that :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteOK, Android on the pi makes it more affordable. How much will it cost?
ReplyDeleteDavid Heffernan If you have the Enterprise SKU or the Pro SKU + Mobile - you already have what you need.
ReplyDeleteJim McKeeth, do you have a link for where to find the appropriate Android for Pi 3 installation guide?
ReplyDeleteLars Fosdal I guess that's the point. It makes sense if you already have the requisite Delphi for other reasons, but you'd never go out and buy Delphi to work on the pi.
ReplyDeleteDavid Heffernan I agree. It is also totally tragic that the Linux compiler isn't available for the Pro SKU.
ReplyDeleteDavid Heffernan yes, there are two good Android for Pi install resources in the webinar.
ReplyDeleteI installed rtandroid and run a app pn it communicate socket and rest server on azure. Everything is fine but rtandroid shows note it is not for commerical !!! And there is no price at web site :/
ReplyDeleteEmrah Kucukali yes, that is a recent change. I contacted them and they aren't sure what the final details will be. In the webinar I'll show another option too.
ReplyDeleteAfter having had a look at the webinar:
ReplyDeleteRTAndroid has a GPIO driver now, so it that should enable direct twiddling of GPIO from the android app.
The solution in the video is playroom toy code - not something that I'd deploy into something intended for production.
We need a proper ARM Linux compiler.
Edit: as well as an ARM Windows compiler.
I like the RT Android better too.
ReplyDeleteWindows IOT looks like more powerfull. I couldnt trust little os providers. Delphi have to find a solution for arm windows compiler.
ReplyDeleteWe turned to VS / C++ for our Pi 3 experiments.
ReplyDeleteLars Fosdal , Do you use Windows IOT?
ReplyDeleteEmrah Kucukali Not yet. Although I want to try Windows 10 IoT and C# too, I only have so much time to spend on it. I bought an ePaper display (https://www.embeddedartists.com/products/displays/lcd_27_epaper.php), and intend to try that out in a few weeks, when I have time spend.
