  1. I've been using SourceTree for some time now.. Are you a Tower user/fan, or is this post meant to just highlight good reasons to have version control? :-) If the former (or both), can you indicate why you prefer Tower?

  2. David Nottage Well, that post is probably meant to be read with a smile. For my regular work I prefer Mercurial with TortoiseHG and have evaluated a couple of alternatives for using Git (Tower being one of them). So far none could actually convince me to switch. SourceTree could be a choice because it supports both (and I gave it a try several times), but IMHO it lacks the ease of use found in the TortoiseHG workbench. Can as well be just being used to it.

  3. Still using TortoiseSVN with Visual SVN on the server.

  4. Hi David, Hope all's well with you. I used Sourcetree with Mercurial for a year or so but found it a bit flaky with some issues, crashes etc. About two months ago there was a security issue, with Altassian having to release a patch and requiring everyone to upgrade from previous versions. That pushed me to investigate the open source Hg Workbench and I have to say it's been flawless with no issues. Far more reliable than Sourcetree. With open source delivering the goods for free, I'm wondering why Altassian is worth $6Billion!!?
