I hope not.
ReplyDeleteLet's learn from what happened to Castalia.
Ugochukwu Mmaduekwe ... or 3DScene/FMX ... or Delphi itself? Anyway, it makes sense for them to make acquisition on Sencha. An UniGUI may be a nice addition, in-between Delphi and ExtJS.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a wise move for EMB
ReplyDeleteI think EMBT should focus on making Delphi relevant again instead of being distracted by trying to be everything to everyone. What you focus on is what you achieve. Right now EMBT only seems to be focused on bleeding it's users until there are none left. High prices and poor quality (lots of critical regressions) are driving old users away and I can't see them being replaced with new users. Who would jump into a declining language, with a high priced, buggy IDE when there are free/low cost alternatives using more modern languages? EMBT marketing continues to live in it's own version of reality, thinking that Linux support is an Enterprise feature.
ReplyDeleteI would disagree. I think Delphi is pretty amazing and I'm able to build some incredible stuff with it. "Bleeding it's users" is rather pessimistic.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am SUPER pumped about them buying Sencha. UniGUI is also a pretty amazing product.
