It was unclear if I could make it to EKON this year because of too many care-taking issues that came towards me during the year, but it looks I'll be there. Fingers crossed.

A conference that runs for the 21st time is a nostalgic thing, so here a fitting picture.
If people are interested, I can bring some Kylix posters (:

😲😲😲😲😍😍😍😍
ReplyDeleteAnybody got the real nice jewelry boxes for Borland products released circa 2004?
ReplyDeleteMeet you with great pleasure at Ekon 21! Prost!
ReplyDeleteA real Borland box!!! Far better than Embar$&ks! 0?ro.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to meet you at EKON 21. My last participation was at EKON 11, and I have still some ball pens from that time. Hopefully I get some newer ones ;-)

InstallAware Software which versions do you mean?
ReplyDeleteJeroen Wiert Pluimers For example, C++ Builder X, Delphi 8, etc.
ReplyDeleteInstallAware Software nope, last boxes are around Delphi 7 era.
ReplyDeleteInstallAware Software, do you mean these? They started with these at BorCon 2003 - with Mobile Studio as one of the handouts as I remember it.

Jeroen Wiert Pluimers I throw in a D7 Arch unboxing picture as well, was a bit puzzle about the CLX poster, but Kylix 3 was included like the .net preview.

And some of the later media and a tropical flavoured lip proctection. A lot of stuff back in the days, now you need to subscribe to Lootbox, to get your desk cluttered 😁

Good old times. But Delphi 8 and Delphi 2005 were really a shock.
ReplyDeleteRalf Stocker and Delphi 4
ReplyDeleteI jumped from 3 to 6.
ReplyDeleteSteffen Nyeland Yes, precisely those. They were the best, even if they did not have the great printed manuals!
ReplyDeleteSteffen Nyeland And the original Borland Pascal with Objects 7.0 massive box + manuals were great.
ReplyDeleteInstallAware Software Yes but I think I only have the 3.5" disks left.
ReplyDeleteInstallAware Software I have that somewhere. A company I worked for had the Borland C++ 4.0 box. That was huge, even came with a handle.
ReplyDeleteI still love 2007, and wish that stability had the generics in it.
Steffen Nyeland Same here. I wish I had kept the manuals, and the original box even.
ReplyDeleteJeroen Wiert Pluimers I never saw the C++ 3.x/4.0 box, but I heard about the carrying handles and that it had even more books than the BP7 box. I would love to see a picture of it somewhere.
ReplyDelete2007 was my favorite edition also, in fact we built InstallAware on that edition until we had to upgrade our product to Unicode (we lost some customers during that transition as they were unhappy with our new setup engine size). I would have loved to see x64 features in 2007. 2007 was also the first version of Delphi to dump InstallShield and use InstallAware.
InstallAware Software I forgot to archive the image: wiert.me - The huge Borland C++ Box
ReplyDeleteJeroen Wiert Pluimers Image doesn't seem to load for me here.
ReplyDeleteI tossed over four feet of Borland manuals, the previous time I moved.
