Stupid RAD Studio. I buy update subscription, you put out out update, I try to update, and my license fails with too many activations. Everytime. You are a database company. I suggest you learn how to use one. The problem? I keep buying update subscriptions to get updates to fix a product with known defects. Solutions include either: if update pushed Inc(allowed update count to allow customer to update if needed), or, quit selling broken update subscriptions you cannot act on. Seriously, I don't have time for this. You put more energy into spamming me than making sure the product works for me. Grr

  1. This seems to ail a lot of people. I almost wonder why I've been hit only once.

Do you use VMs, Joe C. Hecht?

  2. Since they are re-using the same license key (since XE8 I believe) it tends to work fine if you install it on the same PC every time...but if you are like me and use VM's then it's an annoying to get license unlocks all the time. If they keep this scheme, they absolutely need to add the ability to de-register an installation...but that doesn't help using the same key for multiple versions with each installed on their own device. Currently it's a worst-case scenario situation with their licensing scheme for everyone that doesn't keep the same PC for years.

  3. Whenever i have the notion of migrating more than one small project to a new version of the RAD i create a VM, install the IDE and then clone from that. So no problems w that at all. Also i do this mainly to avoid 3rd party-hell. Each machine with deployed projects will either stay with the 3rd party lib versions or i update all projects in that vm.

  4. Dany Marmur I do a fresh install. I have every version ever released, ready to go. I get a lot work targeted for specific versions, often enough, from customers claiming they will never upgrade (then, often enough they do after I am able to say "if you upgraded, we could do x"). I have more than one license, but what makes me red is this one is my personal copy (I payed for my copies even when I worked there). I install only once, and it seems like I have to call every time,to get the install count inc'd (by only one I suppose). Its not like I am abusing the system. In fact, I am able to take issues and compare against different versions (ultimately leading to good bug reports). Funny, I used to be the guy that incremented the counts. The system could be a bit smarter... "oh, we see you are installing the new update, you are a paid subscriber, here ya go, we can auto inc by one, enjoy!"... instead, I stairing at a message saying I am payed up though October 2018 - install count exceeded - and an email saying "please update your component packs for your customers since the new compiler is not binary compatible".

  5. And, , as David Millington remarked here on G+ "G+ is not official feedback, by the way. Please don't think things written here will be heard."

  6. Fabio VITALE I don't know about that. Officially, no, but Last time I made a squeak here, David I jumped in with resolve-ment in about 10 seconds. In any case, I did get Inc(License) somewhat painlessly, and I have to admit, last time, I got a call from an old friend and co-worker (that still works there). It was nice. Now, how about that compiler? I just ran some 64 bit code and it seemed blazingly fast!
