  1. This is "vaporware". It is hard to see how they will do this, since the MacOS and iOS are very different, without more information about technical details.

  2. Microsoft tried it with it’s Continuum project. But Lars Fosdal, you are right, wait and see.

  3. iOS apps which can run on Mac. It's same as Android apps can run on Chrome OS. This is correct way, not like MS is trying kill Desktop apps with UWP.

  4. Christen Blom-Dahl Apple's idea is not comparable with Microsoft Continuum, but with UWP on Windows 10. Continuum was for the Windows 10 Phone OS only. But, an app that is 100% UWP will be able to run on any form factor.

Lars Fosdal There has been rumors for a few years now that Apple may be looking into changing their desktop CPUs from Intel to their own custom ARM CPUs. So, if the first step is that the macOS and iOS share more of their internals, and to unify the development experience between platforms/form factors, might also be a step that the macOS apps will have to be installed via the Apple AppStore.

Pavol Stugel I agree that UWP didn't start out the right way. But, if you look at UWP today, it surely doesn't look the same as it did in Windows 8. Today, an UWP app can run windowed on the desktop and can also have multiple opened windows. And it is now possible to connect to a local database without having to use webservices. And, UWP is starting to be more on par with WPF, which makes it more attractive than before.
