I'm configuring a VM with Windows 7 and Delphi Tokyo. I'm looking for some "best practices" on how to ensure everybody has a core set of up-to-date components and patches on their VMs. We need to maintain a couple of different environments, so instead of multiple physical machines, we decided to use separate VMs for each environment we need.

(I noticed the earlier post today about Docker with Delphi. I'll read it this evening. But anything else would be appreciated. BTW, if Embt could make Delphi run on a Linux host, those Docker containers could probably be way smaller than if Windows was required!)

  1. Well, I've never heard of anybody using Docker with Delphi, but that's not very relevant.

There ARE TONS of people working with VMs, and I'm looking for some insights into how others are managing the consistency of these VMs across entire teams of developers.

  2. Some years ago i tryed to build a couple of citrix vm build from a master vm. But updating the master vm and deploying it to 'client' vm results in a delphi registration disaster. Also problems in the windows registration entries.
But since then i learned a lot aboth both, the delphi ide installation and citrix.

This year i will give it a new try (as soon as i find some time 😉)
