iOS 12 will OpenCL and OpenGL deprecated... the new engine will be metal...what about firemonkey ?

  1. It’ll be interesting to see how long before Emb update the frameworks for Metal but I don’t envy the pressure on them with OS X 64, Android 32 bit deprecation, mandatory Android SDK 28 upgrade compatibility work and this all at the same time.
I just hope they can cope and give us a decent release that doesn’t go backwards in quality in an attempt to meet these deadlines.

The good news is that the OpenGL deprecation won’t affect anything until at least iOS 13 (assuming they call it that) so it gives Emb some time to sort it out. Or just outsource it so we can do it for them!

  2. so Firemonkey will never be stable as HTML5. Since Android&IOS will be optimized with HTML5 with their updates themself. But FMX requires Emb keep up with Apple&Google.

  3. Lots of cross platform tools are in the same boat with OpenGL. I was looking at Kotlin Native and it uses OpenGL.

  4. Maybe its time for embarcadero to make some kind of true native platform, if Yaroslav Brovin alone can do it, why not embarcadero... right?

  5. José Morango actually I use fmx for mobile and I found it a good solution, i done some app without problems. The new fmg framework i think is good and turbo cocoa too. But at the moment I used to develop with fmx and it is good enough for me. My fear is if it will not supported for new so because I got a lot of work on it.
