  1. Sergionn Rad I agree that the way people make software money now is selling services (SaaS) and not the software itself.

  2. Sergionn Rad When people buy IDE for $1000-5000 they want get back that money. With the advent of CE, I hope there will be more open source and free projects for Delphi.

  3. Hi, I'm the main developer of Gorilla3D and I was following this conversation. :)

First things first: +Cocodrolo Apps thanks a million for sharing!
We really appreciate it! And thanks to everyone who already registered! :)

To point it out better, this is not a competitor to Unity, Unreal-Engine and so on! :(
Gorilla 3D is intended to be an extension to existing Firemonkey 3D components, because we want to build apps and games with Delphi.
And we are aware that we're just at the beginning.

Besides: Also with Unity and Unreal you will get to the point, where you need to pay for. And those engines are not completely open source. Core modules are kept under secret, which is absolutely understandable as company.

    Regarding the pricing model:
    1) The developer edition with watermark is free and will be free in future!
    2) Some parts will be open source in future, f.e. materials like the an OceanMaterial (built with open source shader code)
    3) Currently we're struggling, which pricing model is the best. But at least we need revenue, to pay our developers.

We want to gather as much as possible developers around Gorilla3D, but we're really not sure which is the most attractive. So I'm asking which kind of pricing model would you like to prefer?

I guess, the best is, to start a survey post on that ... :D
