the only thing i miss is the option to have a notification pushed to my smartphonescreen for stuff i'm interested. But that's neglible compared to the rest we just(finally) got
Alexander Benikowski Technically, notifications are supposed to work in Chrome as long as you have the app running - but then again - perhaps some clever Delphi Developer can make a RSS consuming app that can provide the notifications and launch the browser on the web page when you click the topic.
How many pages do I have to maintain open in the browser of my phone?
This is not an option! It's a failure because the main use of this forum is for a web browser and a keyboard, and the natural manner of doing this is on a desktop computer. I think that all of us use this state of things to create new posts. Another thing is when you wait for a response. Mobile is a good option.
This is not a discussion tip. It's real.
When you have an App for a forum, you have notifications, you have a natural navigation through the entries, etc. You know a lot of apps that do this. You are intelligent.
And of course, you can use your web navigator for this... navigate. Not to maintain a list of pages open to see if there are new things.
Sorry. It's my opinion. And I don't need lessons about how to use my mobile. ;)
The answer is implicit. I don't want to use my navigator for use the forum. I don't go to write the URL every time I need to use the forum. I don't want to search using the tactile keyboard.
This is like asking if you have tried to rent a garage with the door manually actioned. No! I live in XXI century! I want a garage with the door mechanism automatized.
It's easy.
I'm going to use the forum exclusively on my desktop. This should not be a problem for anyone. And this does not solve the problem. Do not have an App for the forum is a fail!
Only one alternative reading: A forum about Delphi, with thousands of members and don't have an App?
A development language that presumes of Build once and deploy modern apps for every platform - FAST, and don't have an App for Android and the same for iOS?
I'll make source code for two apps available. One that uses TWebBrowser and one for the RSS feed. No push notifications and not publishing them to the app store though.
Lars Fosdal I understand that this forum is great in terms of organization. I also could customize a view that is more or less alike that the G+ view. Nevertheless, I think that great part of the success of this G+ group is that is an attractive, easy to use modern platform with its mobile apps. For old delphiers, an old style forum with only access trough the web, could be good enough. But don’t expect newcomers. I can’t imagine a young developer trying Delphi for mobile development to be eager to participate in an old fashion forum.
When in Chrome on Android, click on Add to Home screen

Android creates an URL shortcut on your app screen.

Which will look better when Daniel is done with the new FavIcon.
ReplyDeleteBut - it opens faster than G+!

ReplyDeleteBut, is not an App, true? Is a web version?
ReplyDeleteJuan C. Cilleruelo it's html, css and js.

Lars Fosdal But, should I search it in the AppStore?
ReplyDeleteJuan C. Cilleruelo As far as I know, there is no app in the app store.
ReplyDeleteSad. This is a serious failure!
ReplyDeleteJuan C. Cilleruelo have you actually tried it in a browser on your phone?

Think about it. This is not a good propaganda.

ReplyDeleteParticipation is entirely voluntary.
ReplyDeleteThe REST API is given. If only there was a tool for mobile developement... :PP
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. I went to the dp site and it looks to be all in German. I don't see an obvious language toggle anywhere. An I missing something?
