I have seen LOADS of bad and annoying web-site and web-app designs the last decade. This is one that rapidly moves up to the top-10.

Really. WHY? Anyone not agreeing with me, if you care to comment, i'd appreciate it. I just cannot get my head around the "why" in this.

  1. I thought this was the new logo: The owner of forums.embarcadero.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

  2. It's missing an active certificate as it was a WEEK ago. Same ole song and dance. Makes me wonder if our personal information and credit card numbers a safe.

  3. The SSL certificate was replaced on time (for the website, we did have some issues with other domains.) But some browsers and OSes keep the stale one. If you're on Windows, try opening the Internet Options, Content tab, and click Clear SSL State. I'm not sure why Windows keeps state for an expired certificate, it seems something you'd want the OS to look for an update to.

Is anyone still seeing the error in the IDE? If so, please try the above. We do not reproduce it in-house but if it's publicly visible still I can post a blog about how to solve it.

  4. Dany Marmur It's pretty common practice to shade a background area when you want to highlight a foreground area (like a menu). For example, this is how TMultiView works. Maybe it is a practice originating on mobile devices. See google.com - ios error dialog - Google Search

  5. Eli M, of course i know that. I have a lot of grayscreens but i show them when bringing up a "dialog" like most sites/webapps. The way it's done on that page is the other way around and IMHO it a really bad UX.
